  • Overview

    The employee will be responsible to safely and efficiently operate the Companies forklift equipment which ranges in lift capacity from 25,000 pounds down to 5,000 pounds to lift, stack, un-stack and generally handle chassis ranging in size from 20’ in length up to and including 53’ long. The employee will also be expected to safely and efficiently operate the Companies UTR equipment to maneuver and position chassis within the yard and workshop and in situations where space is limited. The employee will also be required to perform live chassis inspections, perform in and out gate inspections and interchanges using both hard copy documentation and or ‘hand held’ technology.  The employee is expected to be knowledgeable of, and observe, all safety rules and become knowledgeable of and utilize all TRAC policies and procedures.


    • Daily review of safety rules
    • Safe handling of chassis and other items engaged with various types of handling equipment to include, but not necessarily limited to, forklifts (up to 25,000 pound lift capacity) and UTR’s
    • Communicating with management on space requirements, backlog of work, and inventory issues
    • Perform live chassis inspections in and out gate with an EIR or handheld device
    • Communicate with customers and their drivers as to equipment availability and location and to receive and deliver chassis in a timely and polite manner
    • Other duties as assigned



    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Minimum of three years proven experience in operating lift devices (with a lift capacity up to and including 25,000 pounds) and UTR yard trucks
    • Ability to be certified to operate TRAC forklifts and UTR equipment
    • Ability to read and write legibly
    • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time
    • Ability to review a written plan and execute according to the TRAC and industry accepted process, procedures and standards
    • Ability to work within a process oriented team atmosphere
    • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
    • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workloads and handle multiple tasks

    Must meet minimum FMCSA requirements that are listed in the Special Position Requirements

    Special Position Requirements:

    • This position may require the periodic support of other local and National TRAC, M&R activities both locally and on a National basis.
    • Be able to conduct surveys and inspections at third party depots and rail ramps.
    • Must possess a current TWIC card and or the ability to obtain one.
