  • Overview

    The Service Center Operations Managerwill participate in all of the activities related to the startup and operation of a TRAC Service Center.  This facility will provide at a minimum Maintenance and Repair (M&R) services, gate activity, customer interface and all ancillary depot related services.  The individual will manage all of the Service Center shop and yard activities at the facility, which will include at minimum software for inventory control, inventory responsibilities, yard equipment,  and staff needs.  This person will have full responsibility to produce a working facility for management.

    Responsibilities

    • Management of mechanics and fork lift operators; estimators for operations; gate and yard inventory
    • Devise and execute efficient and accurate gate processing of equipment activity
    • Work with the Service Center Manager to execute the shop infrastructure including vendors needed for efficient operations.
    • Develop an operations manual with Service Center Manager defining the procedures for all Service Center activities
    • Follow up and audit the operational activities to ensure best practices and update procedures for the manual.
    • Daily review of safety rules.
    • Conduct monthly safety training meetings as assigned by the Service Center Manager and or the Safety Coordinator.
    • Assignment of tasks and supervision of chassis repair methods, standards, quality, procedures, tools and equipment.
    • Monitor repair activities and track production levels against target.
    • Remain compliant with all safety standards and regulations including OSHA and FMCSA.
    • Communicate with Management on safety concerns, associate concerns, productivity, quality and efficiency and be prepared to offer recommendations as to improvements and or changes.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • For external candidates (outside of TRAC) a minimum of 10 yrs chassis or trailer M&R and / or Depot site management experience
    • Minimum of 4 years experience managing a similar type M&R facility
    • For internal candidates already working at TRAC, minimum 6 year chassis or trailer M&R and / or Depot site management experience
    • Minimum of 4 years experience managing a similar type M&R facility
    • PC literate / MS Office Product literate, especially Internet Explorer, Excel, Word & Outlook (Access a big plus)
    • Preferred experience working with a quality process / system (e.g. ISO, Six Sigma, TQM etc…)
    • Ability to work within a process oriented team atmosphere
    • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
    • Ability to identify problems, process resolution and implement action or solutions timely
    • Ability to meet deadlines; prioritize workloads and handle multiple tasks
    • Ability to learn company proprietary software programs
    • Ability to secure Railsafe and TWIC identification
    • Ability to operate lift machines and common shop equipment
